The man who likes walking…
I think that it is common to hear these cliches as you grow up. There are so many quick quips that you may have heard as you mature and begin to grow. For example, “hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.” or even “the man who likes walking will get much further than the man who loves the destination”.
Previously before I had to look inward and search for meaning, these things were just useful sayings.
Now that I have experienced some things in this life, and when i say this I say this hesitantly. There is not much TRAUMA in my life in comparison to others. There are people in the Gaza strip right now who do not have access to clean water and food, and do not have adequate clothing for the weather. That's real trauma, what I am talking about is nothing even close to something like that.
Nevertheless it is the only thing that I can draw from. Anyways, with time I have seen that the human experience is not new. Another saying “there’s nothing new under the sun” begins to ring true as I write this blog post.
I think that it is upon us to find wisdom in these sorts of sayings and lessons. These sayings that have lasted the test of time have done so for a reason. And to break the suspense they did not last the test of time because they have no value and are stupid, they have lasted for exactly the opposite.
Learn and grow and try new things. Learn, grow and iterate. Make small changes from the things that you learn and from the experiences that you have.
Learn, grow and iterate, take the lessons that those around have learned and have professed to you. Maybe you can learn those lessons before you have to experience them yourself, and save yourself the time it would take to go through it yourself.
This post is the same thing, each and every time that I sit to write a blog post admittedly it has been less frequent, due to real life obligations and plans for my future, however when I do, all I am doing is learning and growing and iterating.
That is all that we can do in this world. In a time of hustle culture, instagram and social media, without actually having connection and community it is important to understand that you are where you are and that is perfectly okay.
If you want to change that, work for it to the best of your ability, but in the pursuit is where you find the meaning and satisfaction, not in actually obtaining the thing.
The man who loves to walk gets much further than the man who loves the destination.
